Brooklyn played its first game of the summer tournament on Friday as they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 101-97. In that contest, the Nets had trouble stopping Sharife Cooper (27 points) due to his quickness off the dribble and his variety of finishes at the rim. In all, Brooklyn was able to get back into the game after being down as many as 18 points thanks to six Nets scoring in double figures, including leading scorer Armoni Brooks with 17 points.
The New York Knicks played their first game of the Vegas summer league on Saturday as they lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 110-101. Center DaQuan Jeffries led the Knicks in scoring (20 points) and had a good all-around performance for the team. In that game, New York had seven players score in double figures, including big man Dmytro Skapintsev who scored 10 points in just a little over 13 minutes of playing time.
