Advice and prediction

Philly has the best record in basketball and they’re absolutely one of the best teams in the East, but do not be fooled. Their record is a little misleading — unless you’re convinced the Magic, Cavs and Knicks are actually among the eight best teams in the conference, of course. Otherwise, Phill has simply taken advantage of its easy start to the season.

On top of that, they’re traveling on the second day of a back-to-back — after working to survive a 60-point performance by Bradley Beal.

If you’re deciding between the spread or moneyline, the latter is the better option on BetMGM. The Nets will win this if it’s a close game — it’s just a matter of whether or not you think this will or won’t be a close game.

The best bet for Thursday is Jarrett Allen’s point total. He’s on a roll right now and Joel Embiid is his white whale. Expect Allen to keep things going and score 11 or more points.

Something to keep in mind: although he’s not on the injury report at the time of publication, Embiid could sit this one out. If he doesn’t, Allen will easily hit the over on his point total and the Nets won’t have any problem stealing a win — Philly’s lone loss this year came on the second day of a back-to-back on the road without Embiid. Again, that’s still an if, but something to be aware of when making decisions about tonight’s game.

Prediction: Nets 115, 76ers 112

UPDATE: The Nets ruled out Kyrie Irving at 5:25 p.m.
