After a hot start to the 2019-20 season, Joe Harris has seen his 3-point percentage steadily decline — despite the fact he’s had more opportunities with Kyrie Irving out.
He’s still shooting a strong 40.8% from 3-point territory, but over the last 21 games, he’s shooting 37.1% from deep. Over the last 10 games, he’s shooting 33.3% from long-range.
Harris’ steady decline seems like a sign of fatigue, which he is especially prone to with his multiple trips to China — one being with Team USA.
It’s something the Nets have been mindful of. In fact, part of the reason Harris missed Brooklyn’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks was fatigue, which Kenny Atkinson told Brian Lewis fo the New York Post:
That was part of it. We held him out for a reason. But he’s not going to want me to use that as an excuse. You have to ask him.
Atkinson also added:
Team USA, you’ve seen it. So we knew it was coming and we’ve got to manage it. That’s all. He’s not as spry as he normally is. He’s grinding through it.
Even after the night off, Harris struggled from three against the Sixers (1-for-5 from deep). Clearly, one night isn’t going to reset everything.
