Nets still believe that they can attract players to Brooklyn

According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, the Brooklyn Nets still believe that they can attract players to come to Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Nets are still trying to find their way back to being a championship contender after the trades of the Big 3, but the current situation is rough right now. Players and fans alike have had little to be happy about over the past few months, but it seems that the organization still has faith in its plan.

In a recent episode of the “Bleav In Nets” podcast, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints and Brian Lewis of the New York Post discussed what their plans are after this season. Per Lewis, the Nets still “feel they can recruit players” despite the skepticism of some in the fan base who are upset with the current iteration of the team.

Going into Friday’s slate of games, Brooklyn is 26-44 and are 4.5 games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference. To make matters worse, the Nets have to find a way to pass the Hawks in the next 12 games, something that has little to no chance of happening.

Aside from the playoff implications, the product on the court has not been particularly inspiring for anyone who watches the team on a nightly basis. The Nets were 9-9 through November, but since then, Brooklyn is just 17-35 and have been the definition of inconsistency.

With that being said, the Nets are going to be one of the teams that will be looking to get a star or two to speed up their current rebuild given that they will be unable to make their own first-round pick until 2028 due to the James Harden trade with the Houston Rockets.

Until then, the team’s best bet, aside from finding a way to get some of their picks back from the Rockets, is to hope that a star will be open to a trade to Brooklyn. Otherwise, things for the Nets may not change for awhile.
