Nets stay in top 5 in latest Rookie Wire NBA power ranking

Despite dealing with significant health issues that have trimmed the roster, the Nets are still atop the Eastern Conference.

It’s been a difficult period of the season for the Brooklyn Nets, as the organization has been forced to deal with widespread COVID-19 issues that have forced stars Kevin Durant and James Harden to miss time, as well as several key role players.

Despite all that, the Nets have gone 4-1 over their last five games, and hold a 1.5 game lead over the Chicago Bulls in the race for the No. 1 overall seed in the Eastern Conference. With Kyrie Irving on his way back as a part-time player, there’s reason to believe the Nets can only get better.

In his latest NBA Power Rankings on Rookie Wire, Cody Taylor ranked the Nets fourth, trailing only the Suns, Warriors and Jazz.

Via Rookie Wire:

“The Nets, after making a commendable decision to bench (Irving), have now reversed course and are allowing him to participate in practice and play in road games. Whether or not you agree with the decision, the Nets will soon be operating at near-full strength and can finally prove just how good they are.”

The Nets were originally scheduled to play the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night, but that game has been postponed. Brooklyn will travel to Portland to play the Blazers on Thursday, before meeting the Lakers in Los Angeles on Christmas Day.
