Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie discusses Ben Simmons amid back injury rehab

Spencer Dinwiddie has sympathy for Ben Simmons and the back issues that he’s going through right now.

Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie has made headlines recently thanks to his recent comments about Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma in their continued beef. However, aside from that, Dinwiddie also gave his thoughts on guard Ben Simmons as the former Philadelphia 76er continues his rehab for the nerve impingement in his back.

Dinwiddie understands what it’s like to come back from serious injuries as he has suffered ACL injuries over the course of his basketball career. However, Dinwiddie has never had a back injury like Simmons has and Dinwiddie has made sure to point that out on numerous occasions.

Simmons has dealt with back issues throughout his career and at times, those back ailments have kept him out of action for a long period of time. More to the point, when Simmons has been able to come back from those back issues, he has been largely ineffective compared to the heights that he achieved during this time in Philadelphia. Dinwiddie made an appearance on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back show on Wednesday to talk about Simmons:

“We all know the type of explosive and dominant player he can be on both ends of the floor when he’s healthy and when he’s right… the best thing for his career is to get right. Not sacrifice too much for a playoff run, but he’s around the guys. He’s been a great teammate. He’s been championing the guys on. I’ve never personally dealt with a back injury and so it’s not really something I can comment on. To the older guys that I know that have, they talk about that it’s the one of the worst things in the world.
