Nets say Royce O’Neale should be back for Friday’s game against the Raptors

Royce O’Neale could play on Friday against the Toronto Raptors.

Brooklyn Nets forward Royce O’Neale is expected to play in Friday’s game at the Toronto Raptors, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post. O’Neale has missed the past two games against the Indiana Pacers and the Washington Wizards for personal reasons.

There has been no indication of what the personal reasons are, but O’Neale has been a crucial part of the Nets this season. In 27 games, O’Neale is averaging 9.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 37.7% from the field and 40.7 from behind the three-point line.

Even though personal reasons can mean anything, it turned out to be a good chance for O’Neale to get some rest as he is tied for 13th (with Darius Garland) in the NBA in minutes per game. Before O’Neale was ruled out, Nets coach Jacque Vaughn did mention that he was trying to find rest for veterans like Kevin Durant and others, including O’Neale.

The Nets have won eight of their nine games.
