Brooklyn Nets rookie Nicolas Claxton underwent successful arthroscopic labrum repair surgery Wednesday on his left shoulder, the team announced in a press release.

Claxton will not join the Nets for the resumption of the 2019-20 season at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. He is expected to make a full recovery in time to participate in training camp prior to next season, the team said.

Claxton played sparingly with the Nets prior to the suspension of the regular season, averaging 4.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 15 games. He also appeared in nine games with the Long Island Nets in the G League where he averaged 16.7 points and 7.3 rebounds.

Despite a disappointing finish to his rookie season, the future for Claxton appears to be bright. Over the weekend, Tom Crean, his head coach at Georgia, said he believed Claxton will be a force in the NBA for a long time given his versatility, quickness and skill set on the court.
