Nets respond to rough opening loss with big win over Wizards

The Brooklyn Nets had a couple of tough moments against the Washington Wizards, but they ultimately walked away with the win.

Caris LeVert, Joe Harris and Jarrett Allen made sure the Brooklyn Nets did not start off seeding play with back-to-back losses against the two teams they’re in close contention with in the Eastern Conference standings.

After a tough loss to the Orlando Magic on Friday, the Nets responded with a 118-110 win over the No. 9 Washington Wizards on Sunday.

LeVert led the Nets in scoring, finishing with 34 points on 44% shooting (33.3% from 3-point territory). Sunday’s win marks LeVert’s fourth 30-point performance of the season, his second against the Wizards.

The Brooklyn wing also grabbed seven boards and dished out three assists in 39 minutes of action.

Joe Harris lit it up from long-range, making 6 of his 7 3-point attempts throughout his season-high 27-point game.

Like LeVert, Harris grabbed seven rebounds. He also blocked one shot in the win.

Allen continues to be a double-double machine. The big man logged his team-leading 27th double-double of 2019-20, tying his season-high in points (22) while grabbing 15 rebounds.

Garrett Temple and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot each finished in double figures, as well. Both scored 10 points apiece.

Brooklyn takes on the Milwaukee Bucks next. That game begins at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
