Nets Report Card: First quarter of 2019-20 season

The Brooklyn Nets are through the first quarter of their 2019-20 schedule. Nets Wire assesses how the players have performed so far.

Kyrie Irving

If it wasn’t for the fact Irving has missed nine games, he’d have a higher grade. Yes, that’s out of his control, but it has also limited the level of impact he can have on the team.

Also, the defense wasn’t at its best when Irving was healthy. Players have expressed time and again it was all about time and the defense still would have improved with Irving and Caris LeVert out there. Still, those two have to prove their teammates right.

All that being said, Irving has been a force offensively. He leads the Nets in points per game (28.5) and assists per game (7.2). Though, he hasn’t been as efficient with his shooting as he was in Boston (44.4 field goal percentage and 34.1 3-point percentage this year).
