Kyrie Irving’s long layoff is finally at an end.
After missing a career-high 26 consecutive games for the Brooklyn Nets due to a right shoulder impingement, Irving has been given the green light by the team to play in Sunday’s game against ex-New Jersey Nets wing Vince Carter, Trae Young and the last-place Atlanta Hawks.
Irving had been upgraded to probable on Saturday. It was the first time he had been listed as anything other than “out” in nearly two months.
In addition to Irving, Garrett Temple, Wilson Chandler and Nic Claxton will be available for the Nets at Barclays Center on Sunday.
Temple (right knee contusion) and Chandler (left hamstring tightness) were out for Brooklyn’s win over the Miami Heat on Friday and upgraded to questionable on Saturday, before officially being made available.
Claxton was on assignment with the Long Island Nets on Saturday. The Nets rookie was recalled on Sunday.
