The Nets are dancing. They could lose the rest of their games in the Disney bubble and they will still make the 2020 NBA Playoffs, now having won three of their first five contests — already surpassing the win total over/under multiple sportsbooks set for them heading into the NBA’s restart (2.5).
It’s just a matter of positioning for Brooklyn at this point.
Now, it’s not as if the Nets can skyrocket up the standings. They can only earn the seventh or eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. After their win over the Kings on Friday and the Orlando Magic’s 108-101 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn has a 1.5-game lead at the No. 7 spot.
And the Nets need the extra wiggle room with the Los Angeles Clippers up next on their schedule, and the Portland Trail Blazers rounding out this final three-game stretch.
Now, Orlando doesn’t have an easy slate left either, with the Boston Celtics up next and New Orleans Pelicans rounding out their seeding game schedule.
Though, with the way things are going for both the Nets and Magic, it looks like the second-to-last game on both their restart schedules is going to be the deciding factor — because they play each other.
The difference is the Nets are in control of their own destiny.
