NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets guard Mikal Bridges has gone through a lot this season in terms of what team he’s playing for and what his role is. However, in the face of a unique season for him, he was able to acknowledge and appreciate what happened on Friday.
“It’s dope, it’s great,” Bridges said after Friday’s 101-84 win over the Orlando Magic. Coming into Friday, the Nets had to either win and get in the playoffs or hope that the Miami Heat lost to the Washington Wizards. “Just, it was tough, especially in the beginning,” Bridges continued. “A lot of people (were) new and trying to learn concepts and figure out, you know, prior rotation and what to do out there on the court together.”
With about four minutes left in the game, the PA announced that because of the Heat losing, the Nets clinched the sixth and final playoff spit in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn took care of business against the Magic so they would’ve made it either way, but it was definitely important to hear the Barclays Center crowd cheer even before the win was official. “So, it was definitely tough for a while, but finally clicking, finally figuring out what we can do out there. It’s dope man, just happy to be in this position. And, you know, be happy about it.”
