NEW YORK — The Brooklyn Nets have been in a number of games already this season where the end result arguably came down to a play or two at the end of the game. Unfortunately, Brooklyn has usually been on the wrong end of those close games and Mikal Bridges is calling it like it is.
“We just got to know how to win games at the end,” Bridges said after scoring 31 points in Monday’s 129-125 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. Monday seemed like a replay of what Brooklyn has experienced in six of seven games this season: play competitive for the majority of the game until the other team pulls away in the end thanks to a play or two in their favor.
This time, it was Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo who made those plays as he made some great defensive plays at the rim to make the Nets’ comeback harder than it already was. Despite the losses, Bridges believes that Brooklyn has the ability to close these games with wins. “We’ve done it, we just got to continue to do it… against high-level teams like Milwaukee,” Bridges said.
Out of seven games that Brooklyn has played this season, five has been decided by five points or less, including Monday’s loss to the Bucks. It seems that the Nets will be playing in plenty of close games this season so they will get a lot of practice in playing in the clutch.
