Brooklyn Nets guard Mikal Bridges has shown the NBA world over the past six months or so that he is better than everybody thought he was during his days with the Phoenix Suns and that he is someone with a bright future now that he has his new role is Brooklyn’s best player.
When Bridges came to the Nets last season as a result of the Kevin Durant trade, the former Villanova Wildcat was thrust into a role that was new to him. Bridges not only assumed the responsibility of being Brooklyn’s primary scorer, but he thrived in the role as well.
Coming into this season, Bridges will have to be the man from the beginning and this time, he will not catch anyone by surprise. He will have to be better than he was last season if Brooklyn wants to go places this season and hopefully, make it to the playoffs.
Knowing this, Bridges is ready for the challenge and if anything, he has always been ready for it, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post:
“Who wouldn’t want this? Who wouldn’t want this type of pressure, this type of expectations? If you really love the game and really want to be the best you can be, you’d want this …where you’re the main guy and everything’s on your shoulders. What are you going to do? How I’m raised and where I came from with the things I’ve been through, I feel like I’m ready for the moment and always have been.”
