Nets’ Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson scores 22 in Team USA loss to Canada

Brooklyn Nets guard Mikal Bridges scored 19 points in Team USA’s 127-118 loss to Canada in the bronze medal game on Sunday.

Team USA played Canada on Sunday in the bronze medal game for the 2023 FIBA World Cup and lost 127-118.

For Team USA, Anthony Edwards had 24 points and five rebounds while Austin Reaves had 23 points and five rebounds. Brooklyn Nets guard Mikal Bridges had 19 points and Bobby Portis had 14 points.

For Canada, Dillon Brooks had 39 points and five assists while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 31 points and 12 assists. RJ Barrett had 23 points and Lu Dort had 11 points.

After the disappointment of not being able to compete for the gold medal due to losing to Germany in the semi-finals, Team USA came into this game looking to win the bronze medal to make the most of this summer. Canada was in the same situation after looking dominant through the early portion of the tournament.

After a first half that was pretty even between the two teams, the second half became pretty intense because of big performances from Brooks and Edwards. Bridges hit a clutch three-pointer to force overtime, but Team USA was unable to break through to bring home the gold.

For Nets Wire purposes, Nets forward Cam Johnson had three points and one assists in over seven minutes of playing time.
