Nets March Madness: Caris LeVert unable to stop Aaron Harrison at the buzzer

On March 30, 2014, Caris LeVert played in what would prove to be his final NCAA March Madness game.

While there’s still hope for the NBA to crown a 2020 champion, the same cannot be said for college basketball. When professional sports organizations put their seasons on hold in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak, the NCAA canceled all winter tournaments — including the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.

Since there won’t be any bracket busting or Cinderella stories this year, Nets Wire will try to help fans get their March Madness fix by looking back at performances and runs that featured current Brooklyn Nets players:

Michigan made its share of impressive NCAA tournament runs in Caris LeVert’s time with the Wolverines. Unfortunately for the future Brooklyn Nets’ guard, his last run came in his junior season at the hands of Kentucky.

The eighth-ranked Wildcats met No. 2 Michigan in the Elite Eight and pulled off a 75-72 upset win (full box score). The game was won in the closing seconds when Aaron Harrison pulled up from three and knocked down the closely contested shot.

The one contesting the shot was none other than LeVert.

The now-Nets guard finished with nine points on 4-for-7 shooting, five assists, three rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
