Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving was recently dropped from the Nike in the aftermath of his decision to tweet a link to a film that contained antisemitic material. Irving is now a sneaker free agent and time will tell if he signs with another organization.
Initially, when the tweet incident happened, Nike suspended Irving. Irving was suspended by the Nets for failure to disavow antisemitism and Nike suspended him shortly thereafter.
Irving has one of the most popular shoes in the NBA and many players wear shoes from his signature line. Once Nike announced that Irving was officially dropped from its campaign, he gave his response to those who have supported him over the years by buying his sneakers:
Anyone who has even spent their hard earned money on anything I have ever released, I consider you FAMILY and we are forever connected.
it’s time to show how powerful we are as a community.🤞🏾♾
