Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving had quite the game against the Toronto Raptors to help the Nets sweep the regular-season series 4-0. In the contest, Irving had 32 points (including the game-winning three over Fred VanVleet) and five assists in a game that was physical from beginning to end.
Irving was able to get to wherever he wanted on the floor despite the Raptors being one of the tougher teams in the NBA to score on because of the amount of athletic, rangy players they have. Irving has proven over his career that he can score at will and that sometimes, no amount of defense matters when he is cooking.
Irving powered through the tough defense of the Raptors and even though he gave up a good amount of points to VanVleet, Irving locked in when it mattered most. He reacted to the win and his incredible shot as soon as the game ended:
“Lot of confidence. Team trust and just getting my feet underneath me. I talked to my dad before I came on this trip and he told me to keep my balance underneath me every time I shoot my threes, haven’t been shooting as great as I want on the season. Just gotta keep repping it out. Once you got the ball in your hands, end of the game, it’s what you dream about.”
