Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn had just led his team to an impressive steal of a win against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday when he was asked for an update on guard Ben Simmons. Amidst the winning that Brooklyn has been doing recently, fans and media alike are wondering how Ben Simmons is doing and if he’ll be on the court anytime soon.
Simmons has missed 26 games this season while dealing with a variety of injuries mostly relating to his troublesome knee and back. He has missed 10 straight games and in the beginning of that 10-game stretch, Simmons was out of the lineup because of soreness in his knee that he later took an injection for, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
However, over the past week, Simmons has been dealing with soreness in his back to go along with the knee. Vaughn was asked if there was any consideration within the Nets’ organization about shutting Simmons down given the amount of time he has missed. Vaughn said that there has been no thought given to that. but unfortunately, he doesn’t have much to say about Simmons at this point as told by Lewis:
“Yeah, I think first of all, I’ll just be pretty simple. He’s (Simmons) still managing his back and knee soreness. He’s back home in Brooklyn. We’ll get a chance to kind of see where he’s at when we get back home after this trip.”
