Nets’ Jacque Vaughn liked what he saw against the Heat

Jacque Vaughn loves what he saw from the Nets in the second half.

NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn knows that even though the organization chose to trade their two superstars that the team’s championship aspirations were built on, he’s still expected to win. Vaughn knows that he has a lot of work to do in such a short amount of time. However, he saw something he likes from his group.

“Yeah, I thought we really dictate things in the second half,” Vaughn said after Wednesday’s 116-105 win over the Miami Heat. “We didn’t allow them to get to the spots, more deflections in the second half, or turn them over more in the second half.” After a tightly contested game through the first three quarters, Brooklyn was able to pull away from the Heat in the fourth quarter thanks to some fireworks by wing Mikal Bridges.

The Nets were trailing the Heat 56-62 at halftime. However, Brooklyn won the second half by 15 points and Vaughn saw what changed after halftime. “We got out and hopefully the strength of this team is we could continue to run third and fourth quarters, we were able to do that and get some easy buckets. Just because we do have the depth to get out and run, make or miss.”
