Nets fined $25,000 by the NBA for failure to follow injury reporting rules

The Nets owe money to the NBA for this reason.

The Brooklyn Nets were fined $25,000 by the NBA for “failing to comply with league policies governing injury reporting”, the NBA announced in a statement on Thursday. It seems that this fine is because of the Nets resting eight players, including the entire starting rotation, in their 136-133 win over the Indiana Pacers on Dec. 10.

Of the eight players that were rested for that game, only two players were out for reasons other than rest. Center Nic Claxton was ruled out for the contest with right hamstring tightness while forward Royce O’Neale was ruled out for personal reasons.

For the most part, the NBA seems to be okay with teams resting players for various reasons even if the injury isn’t that significant. However, when a team like the Nets rest seven players (not counting Claxton because he had a legitimate injury) who played in the most recent game and wasn’t hurt in that game, the NBA seems to frown upon that.

The Nets’ next game is Friday at the Toronto Raptors.
