Nets finalize coaching staff, Amar’e Stoudemire named player development assistant

Mike D’Antoni and Amar’e Stoudemire are officially members of Steve Nash’s coaching staff in Brooklyn.

Steve Nash confirmed the Nets had added Amar’e Stoudemire to his coaching staff during the organization’s town hall on Tuesday, but Brooklyn didn’t wait as long to confirm Mike D’Antoni and Ime Udoka had also joined the franchise.

Stoudemire’s official title will be player development assistant, while D’Antoni and Udoka will both hold the title of assistant coach, like Jacque Vaughn.

Additionally, Nash hinted that the Nets might be retaining assistant coach and director of player development Adam Harrington. Brooklyn confirmed Harrington is sticking around with Friday’s announcement, along with Jordan Ott (assistant coach), Tiago Splitter (assistant coach/player development Tiago Splitter) and Ryan Forehan-Kelly (player development coordinator).

“We’ve assembled an experienced staff of high-character individuals with varied backgrounds, both on and off the court, that will help create a solid foundation for me and our players,” Nash with the team’s announcement. “When I set out to build this staff, I wanted to put together a committed group that would connect with our players and help put them in the best position to succeed as a team. With coaching and playing experience at the highest level and a deep background in player development, I’m confident that we’ve put the right people in place to lead us forward.”

Bret Brielmaier and Travon Bryant, who were both Nets assistant coaches in 2019-20, were not included in the announcement.
