Nets coach Jacque Vaughn has ‘interesting’ relationship with Bucks’ Mike Budenholzer

Jacque Vaughn opens up on his relationship with Bucks’ coach Mike Budenholzer.

New York — Brooklyn Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn has a good amount of history with Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer. Vaughn played for and coached with Budenholzer during their time together with the San Antonio Spurs.

“It’s an interesting relationship just because he did coach me, part of a championship together,” Vaughn said during his pregame availability ahead of Friday’s 118-100 win over the Bucks. “And then, I was on the same staff and so, it was interesting to be coached by him but then, be in the same meetings with him. But, that revealed why he’s such a great coach.”

Granted, both were ultimately under the tutelage of Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, but Vaughn and Budenholzer speak glowingly of each other whenever asked. The two even won a championship together during the 2006-2007 season so both guys are aware of the others’ skill set.

After Friday’s blowout win over the Bucks, the Nets now own the NBA’s longest active winning streak at eight games.
