The Brooklyn Nets are looking to turn around their season in an effort to get back into the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Brooklyn has been impressive lately and one of the main reasons for that is arguably their most talented young player.
The NBA announced on Monday that Nets guard Cam Thomas was one of the nominees for the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award. While he didn’t win the award, Thomas still played incredibly over the week in question.
Over the past three games, Thomas is averaging 30.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 54.1% from the field and 50.0% from behind the three-point line. Over that span, Brooklyn went 2-1 which includes a 136-121 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday in which Thomas tallied his seventh 40-point game of his career.
Thomas’ performance recently has led to plenty of questions about whether he should be in the starting lineup moving forward. Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn said after Saturday’s win that he wants to save that decision for when the team is fully healthy and go from there.
