Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has started the 2023-24 season on a mission as he has dropped at least 30 points for the third time in as many games, making him the second-youngest player in NBA history to do behind Shaquille O’Neal. Thomas has been arguably the main reason that Brooklyn has been in all of its games this season.
In Monday’s 133-121 win over the Charlotte Hornets, Thomas scored 33 points on 10-of-17 shooting the field. While the Hornets are Brooklyn’s easiest opponent by far this season after the Nets faced the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks, the Nets still had to do what it needed to if they were going to come away with their first victory of the season.
Thomas has been incredible so far this season and as such, he has Nets nation buzzing about his play and his potential. What made Monday’s game more impressive is that everyone on Brooklyn’s roster was playing well against the Hornets, in spite of injuries to four players in the Nets’ rotation.
Thomas spoke after the win and when he was asked about the team embracing its identity as a transition-focused squad, here’s what he had to say:
“Yeah, for sure. Just running fast, getting a lot of threes up, a lot of transition threes. But, also, if you run fast, we can get mismatches. We can get bigs on guards and then, we can just do our iso game that we’ve been doing. So, really just running fast. Fast-breaking opens up a lot of things for us. So, we just got to keep doing it and keep building on it.”
