Nets’ Cam Thomas files trademark for ‘ain’t (expletive) funny’ phrase

Cam Thomas has decided to protect a popular phrase of his.

Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has been doing more that just getting buckets on the court. According to NetsDaily, he has been taking care of some business off the court as well. Thomas made headlines a couple of weeks ago when he was asked why he doesn’t smile often and his reply was that “ain’t (expletive) funny.”

In a three-game stretch from Feb. 4 against the Washington Wizards to Feb. 7 against the Phoenix Suns, Thomas scored at least 40 points in each game. What made this stretch of play interesting is that it happened immediately after Kyrie Irving’s trade request became public which opened up playing time for Thomas to take advantage of.

Thomas was absolutely incredible in that three-game stretch and after the third 40-point game, he decided to make sure that he profited from the phrase that gave him some personality with the fans. Since then, Thomas has averaged 15 points per game as his playing time dropped thanks to the Irving and Kevin Durant trades that brought four new players to the team that forced head coach Jacque Vaughn to make changes to the rotations. One of those changes was Thomas going back to the bench.
