Brooklyn Nets rookie Cameron Thomas scored a game-high 35 points in his debut with the Long Island Nets during their NBA G League season opener versus the Delaware Blue Coats.
Thomas finished the contest by shooting 10-of-23 from the field, including 1-of-7 from 3-point range, in 35 minutes during the 114-100 loss. He got to the free-throw line several times in the contest, going 8-of-8 while registering 14 points* from the charity stripe.
His 35 points are the fourth-most scored over the first two days of the season.
Thomas largely struggled from the field but still proved to be a strong scorer throughout the contest. He recorded 25 points in the second half with 14 alone coming in the fourth quarter. He got into the paint seemingly at will, and saw success getting to the rim.

Thomas spent much of the past week practicing with Long Island ahead of the season opener. He projects to have a difficult time cracking the veteran-heavy rotation in Brooklyn so he will likely log quite a few minutes with Long Island.
He has proven to be an elite scorer at each level to this point and will have the chance to continue to work on things in the G League. He could be in for more 30-point performances as the season progresses, as a result.
