Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas is in a tough position this season as it appears that he will be coming off the bench again for the third campaign in a row. While that role is probably the best for the team for right now, there are Nets fans who want to see Thomas get more minutes on the floor.
Despite Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report listing Thomas as one player on Brooklyn’s roster that could surprise NBA fans the most, Thomas still has to find a way to be more impactful with less minutes. As of right now, it appears that the starting lineup locks are Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, and Nic Claxton.
One of the forward spots will most likely come down to Dorian Finney-Smith/Royce O’Neale while the point guard spot will probably come down to Ben Simmons/Spencer Dinwiddie. However, if Brooklyn struggles enough to score the basketball outside of Bridges and Johnson, Thomas could be called upon to assist in that department.
Thomas, 21, is one of the more talented scorers on the team and with that, he will always be able to rely on his scoring prowess to get him on the floor. Heading into his third season in the NBA, if Thomas can be more efficient as a scorer, and maybe improve his play-making ability, he could genuinely surprise a lot of people, including Nets fans.
