Nets’ Cam Johnson is excited for Brooklyn to establish its own ‘identity’

Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson said during a recent appearance on “The Old Man and the Three” podcast why he’s excited for this season.

Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson has had an eventful summer as he received a lucrative contract during free-agency and participated in the 2023 FIBA World Cup as a member of Team USA. While Team USA had a disappointing finish by not winning a medal in the tournament, Johnson now has his sights set on this upcoming season.

Johnson, along with Mikal Bridges and Nic Claxton, will be leading the Nets this season as the franchise enters a new era led by youth and potential. Brooklyn has a chance to compete for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and make a name for themselves.

Johnson recently made an appearance on “The Old Man and the Three” podcast with former NBA player JJ Redick and Tommy Alter and spoke on a number of topics, including his expectations for the Nets this season. Here’s what Johnson had to say when he asked what he is excited about for this season:

“I think the thing I’m most excited about is to see our team establish our own identity. I think we have unique pieces. I think Nic Claxton is a very unique center in his ability to run, guard every position, lob threat. Obviously, Ben (Simmons) opens the game up completely for us. And then, Spence (Dinwiddie), Doe (Dorian Finney-Smith), Roy (Royce O’Neale). Defensively, we should be really really good. But, the fun thing about the season is being able to establish that identity.”
