The Brooklyn Nets are desperately trying to do anything they can to turn their season around so that they still have a chance to get back into the Eastern Conference playoff picture. However, in just the second game for Brooklyn under the guidance of interim head coach Kevin Ollie, trouble appears to rear its head again.
During Saturday’s 101-86 loss at the Minnesota Timberwolves, Nets guard Ben Simmons was ruled out heading into the fourth quarter due to what was described as left leg soreness. Simmons played just 15 minutes in the contest and left the contest with four points, eight rebounds, and three steals.
After the game, there seemed to be some confusion during Ollie’s postgame press conference when it came to the status of Simmons and his injury. Despite the fact that Brooklyn PR’s “X” account listed Simmons’ injury as left leg soreness, Ollie mentioned that Simmons’ injury was to his knee.
After some time passed, Ollie was asked again about Simmons’ injury just for the sake of clarity and one of the PR staff confirmed that the injury is left leg soreness. According to the team, Simmons is not scheduled to undergo any imaging at this moment and he will remain with the team during the entirety of this current road trip.
At the end of the third quarter, the Nets trail the Timberwolves 70-66. Brooklyn has 4 players with 10 points and that should come in handy as Ben Simmons (left leg soreness) has been ruled out for the rest of this game. The Nets have to play better defense to win this game.
