Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons has missed the past three games with a left hip injury and will miss Tuesday’s game against the Orlando Magic for the same reason. Despite the certainty that he will miss his fourth straight game, Simmons’ injury status just seems to worsen by the day.
On Tuesday, hours before the Nets tip off against the Magic, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reported something that Simmons’ agent, Bernie Lee, said about the results of the Aussie’s MRI. According to Lee, Simmons is experiencing some “nerve irritation” on the lower left side of his body that will cause him to miss more time.
Simmons has had a rough time staying healthy in the past few seasons due to a variety of injuries, mostly related to his back and knees. Before last season, Simmons had to have multiple surgeries on his back before going through extensive rehab in order to be ready for the 2022-23 season.
Simmons admitted that even after the surgeries and the rehab that he still came back prematurely just to play last season. Then, Simmons had the nerve impingement that ended his season in March and while he has looked more like himself this season, he is still dealing with similar nerve issues.
I could be wrong, but this sounds like it could be related to the nerve impingement in Ben Simmons' back that prematurely ended his 2022-23 season. #Nets https://t.co/3l8d8xwhGW
