Nets’ Ben Simmons and Spencer Dinwiddie could share the floor on Monday

Brooklyn Nets guards Ben Simmons and Spencer Dinwiddie could be competing for starting point guard, but they could share the floor too.

Brooklyn Nets guards Ben Simmons and Spencer Dinwiddie are in a unique situation going into the 2023-24 season. Last season, after Dinwiddie came to Brooklyn as a result of the Kyrie Irving, the former Dallas Maverick became the starting point guard in part because of what Simmons’ injuries did to his playing ability.

What makes this season interesting for both players is the question of whether one of the players will back up the other or if both players could share the floor together in some capacity. A recent post by Evan Barnes of Newsday could shed some light on where Brooklyn could go in this situation.

In his post, Barnes says that Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn is still deciding on what lineups will be played in Brooklyn’s preseason game on Monday against the Los Angeles Lakers. However, Barnes did mention that Simmons and Dinwiddie have spent a lot of time on the floor together during training camp thus far.

This could be telling or it could just be Brooklyn trying different combinations throughout the course of training camp and preseason. Monday’s game could provide an answer to this question.
