The Brooklyn Nets (38-29, sixth in the Eastern Conference) visit Ball Arena on Sunday to face the Denver Nuggets (46-21, first in the Western Conference) for the first of two matchups this season.
The Nets come into this game having won four of its past five games, including a thrilling 124-123 overtime win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday. Some of Brooklyn’s recent games haven’t been pretty, but as head coach Jacque Vaughn said beating Minnesota that the team is starting to find its identity as a defense-first style squad. The Nets have been relying on Mikal Bridges and Spencer Dinwiddie to provide scoring and both guys have not disappointed.
The Nuggets come into this matchup having lost its last two games, including a disappointing 128-120 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. What made the loss disappointing was that the Spurs are one of the worst teams in the league and the loss happened while Nikola Jokic had a monster triple-double. However, Denver has the best record in the Western Conference by far so Brooklyn will have its work cut out for them.
