The 2020-21 Brooklyn Nets are going to look much different from the 2019-20 team with Kevin Durant returning to the floor, Kyrie Irving being his No. 2 and Steve Nash being the rookie who’ll run the show.
But that doesn’t mean — for all the weird things the franchise experienced — 2019-20 was a throwaway year for Brooklyn.
Nets Wire is looking at the good and bad from 2019-20 nd handing out some end of the season grades. Let’s grade Brooklyn’s sharpshooter:
Joe Harris
STATS: 14.5 PPG | 42.4 3-PT% | 4.3 RPG
Harris’ scoring average went up, but his 3-point percentage took a slight hit after leading the league in 2018-19 (47.4%), dropping down five percent.
But 42.4% from three is nothing to scoff at. The problem was Harris seemed a bit streaky.
After Harris shooting below 40% from long-range in 28 of the 76 games he played in throughout 2018-19 (36.8%), he matched that total over only 69 games played (40.6%).
Harris improved his shooting inside the arc year-over-year and looked to score in the paint more than he ever has in his NBA career. His touch around the rim looked much better in 2019-20. Having that in his back pocket a few times a game will be valuable going forward.
But, if Harris is going to keep attacking the rim when the opportunity presents itself, he has to get his free-throw shooting back under control (dipped to 71.9% after shooting 82.7% the previous two seasons).
