Netflix is reportedly making a live-action Mega Man film

The blue bomber is coming back.

A live-action Mega Man  movie is reportedly in the works at Netflix.

A report by IGN  states that the streaming powerhouse is adapting Capcom’s titular blue bomber for its platform. Apparently, the project is in very early development, so we probably won’t hear anything concrete about it soon. Netflix hasn’t even confirmed the film’s existence, but production company Supermarché accidentally spilled the beans  on its website.

“Henry, Rel, and their in-house producer Orlee-Rose Strauss maintain an active development slate. Features in the works include: an adaptation of Capcom’s Mega Man for Chernin Entertainment and Netflix, which they wrote and are directing,” reads Henry Joost and Rel Schulman’s bio page on Supermarché via Rockman Corner.

Capcom’s IPs haven’t had the best luck when it comes to live-action adaptations. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, which came out last month, is one of the  worst-reviewed films of 2021.

Video game adaptations are always a mixed bag. There’s quite a long list of  terrible films based on video games, but the tides are slowly turning. The first season of Arcane League of Legends  was such a commercial and critical success that  Netflix immediately greenlit a second seasonCastlevania  also had a  popular run on the streaming platform, so if anyone can do Mega Man  justice, it’s Netflix.
