Nebraska soccer returned home following a two-match road trip out east for a showdown against Rutgers on Thursday night. The Huskers and Scarlet Knights battled it out throughout the match, but neither managed to pull away with the win, resulting in a 2-2 draw.
All four goals came in the first half, with Rutgers taking the lead each time and Nebraska responding. The Huskers’ offense continued its aggression it’s been carrying all season, finishing the match with 30 total shots, 11 on goal. So far this season, Nebraska averages 21.6 total shots per game and 10.4 shots on goal per game.
Eleanor Dale remains the Huskers’ leader offensively, scoring both goals for the team in the tie to add to her season total of 15. Dale’s goals, as mentioned earlier, helped Nebraska erase the deficits it had against Rutgers. Dale’s first goal can solely from her, but her second goal came off the assists from Ella Rudney and Emma Prososki.
Nebraska concludes the month of September 3-2-2 to bring its season record to 7-2-3. The Huskers head back out east for their next match, visiting Northwestern to start the month of October. The match begins at 2 p.m. on Oct. 1 and can be viewed on B1G+.
