A Nebraska football player has accepted an invitation to an upcoming all-star game. Long snapper Marco Ortiz has been selected to participate on the roster for the 2024 Hula Bowl.
Ortiz spent his only season at Nebraska after having previously transferred from Florida. He was named a finalist this season for the Patrick Mannelly Award.
The award is named for NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly. Mannelly played for the Chicago Bears for 16 seasons before entering a career in the Chicago media.
The honor is only in its fifth year of existence and benefits Bernie’s Book Bank. That organization provides books to underserved communities in the Chicago area.
The Hula Bowl will take place in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday, January 13.
Thankful for this opportunity! https://t.co/2dgE1wglFX
