The countdown to August 31 is down to 51 days and shifting into the player spotlight here at Cornhuskers Wire is Huskers offensive lineman Justin Evans.
The East Orange, New Jersey native is entering his third season with the Nebraska program after appearing in 12 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023. The 6-foot-1 Evans started in five games for the Huskers as well throughout the season. He made appearances both at center and at left guard.
In 2024, Evans is line to potentially be the Huskers starter at left guard, battling transfer Micah Mazzccua for the spot. He’ll also be a potential backup for senior center Ben Scott as well.
As a prospect, Evans was considered a three-star prospect and had a quality offer sheet before committing to the Huskers in December of 2021.
Other programs to offer Evans included Alabama, Cincinnati, Duke, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.
