The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team will begin their 2024 season on Friday against the Big 12’s Baylor Bears at Globe Life Field in Dallas as part of the Shriners Children’s College Showdown.
But before the season gets underway, let’s check in on where the Cornhuskers are expected to finish in the Big Ten in 2014.
According to the Big Ten Baseball Preseason Poll, the Huskers are predicted to finish fifth in the conference behind the likes of Iowa, Indiana, Maryland, and Rutgers. Michigan is projected to finish sixth.
Additionally, three Huskers have been named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list in sophomore shortstop Dylan Carey, junior outfielder Gabe Swansen, and junior utility player Will Walsh.

The Huskers are coming off a 2023 season in which they finished 33-23-1 overall and 15-9 in conference play.
The Huskers are set to begin their fifth season under head coach Will Bolt who took over the program in 2020. The program is also hoping to make the NCAA Tournament again this spring after failing to do so in each of the last two seasons.
The Huskers have made it to the tournament five times over the last decade with trips in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021. They, however, have not been able to get to Omaha since 2005.
