Nebraska and the Big Ten at odds again over a potential game on Saturday

The Nebraska-Big Ten saga continues

With the Wisconsin vs. Nebraska game officially cancelled on Wednesday due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Badgers football program, the Huskers were looking for an opportunity to still play on Saturday.

Nebraska turned to a new week 2 opponent, and obviously had to look outside the conference to do so. The Huskers and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, a member of the FCS Southern Conference, agreed to play on Saturday, assuming the Big Ten gave permission. Instead, the conference turned down Nebraska’s attempt to try and play the Chattanooga Mocs. According to USA TODAY Sports’ Dan Wolken, the conference did not feel comfortable allowing Nebraska to play a team from outside the Big Ten due to different healthy and safety protocols with other programs and conferences.

As a reminder, the Nebraska-Wisconsin game has been ruled as a no contest by the Big Ten.
