Nearly one-third of Clemson’s football team has tested positive for COVID-19

Nearly a third of the Clemson football team has tested positive for the COVD-19 virus.

Clemson athletics continues to be transparent with its COVID-19 testing and results. The stats are getting scarier by the week with nearly one-third of the football team’s student-athletes testing positive for the coronavirus.

The school released its weekly results Friday. Clemson Athletics is monitoring 19 active COVID-19 cases as of June 26, concluding a week in which 28 individuals who had previously tested positive have now completed a minimum 10-day isolation period.

Clemson has completed 430 tests far since June 1, with a total of 47 positive results. Nineteen new cases were identified since the previously announced update on June 19, 14 of whom are football student-athletes.

Forty-seven student-athletes have tested positive for the coronavirus to date, including 37 football players. Clemson has also had four staff members test positive for COVID-19.

The 37 members of the Tigers football team marks nearly one-third of the roster. Clemson has 120 players on its roster for the 2020 season.
