Mel Tucker has only had one week of face-to-face recruiting in his time as Michigan State Football head coach, and that is not going to change anytime soon. On Wednesday, Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic reported that the NCAA will be extending the recruiting dead period for all Division 1 sports through May 31.

Given the disadvantages, it’s actually quite amazing that Mel Tucker has been able to put together some solid recruiting classes for the Spartans during a global pandemic. Part of that is assisted by the work he did with Colorado before coming to MSU, but part of it is also credited to his relentless recruiting mindset.
