The NCAA Division I Council Coordination Committee has extended the recruiting dead period in all sports through July 31. Recently, the D1 Council voted to approve voluntary athletic activities for football and men’s and women’s basketball, starting June 1. The original end date for the recruiting dead period was set for May 31st.

Here is a full quote from Council chair M. Grace Calhoun per the NCAA:

““The extension maintains consistent recruiting rules for all sports and allows coaches to focus on the student-athletes who may be returning to campus. The committee is committed to reviewing the dead period again in late June or early July.”

The recruiting dead period has provided plenty of complications for college programs and young athletes. Nonetheless, the safety of these high school athletes is paramount along with the safety of all collegiate athletic employees.
