With Colorado’s new season set to begin next week, offensive lineman Tyler Brown was met with difficult news as the NCAA denied his eligibility waiver for 2023 due to the two-time transfer rule.
Brown, who began his college career at Louisiana State in 2019 before transferring to Jackson State, committed to Colorado in January and practiced during spring ball. He has yet to fully practice this fall, however, while he was awaiting approval from the NCAA.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound lineman played in all 13 games for Jackson State last season and was named an FCS third-team All-American.
Brown opened up about his situation on Friday via X (Twitter):
Thank you Buff Nation for welcoming me with open arms. I can’t wait to make you guys proud on the field in the 2024 season and beyond. To anyone else, especially my fellow student athletes struggling with ANY form of mental illness, you’re NOT alone and you MATTER 🫶🏿🦬 pic.twitter.com/5U8nd4Enbv

The two-time transfer rule has its exceptions and, at least in my opinion, it appeared as though Brown met those requirements.
Not sure if I'm missing something here, but this makes Tyler Brown's situation all the more confusing/disappointing.
Per the memo, an undergraduate waiver will be considered "For reasons related to the student-athlete's physical or mental health and well-being." https://t.co/z0tJPqBaD9

Based on his tweet, Brown seems interested in staying at Colorado and waiting until the 2024 season to resume his career.
