Football and basketball players are welcomed back.
The NCAA provided some amazing news that they are going to allow football, men’s and women’s basketball to return to campus on June 1 and perform voluntary workouts on campus with limited athletes involved.
While the NCAA is making this move to allow people back on campus it still determines what local and state authorities are saying about their area and those supersede what the NCAA is saying.
Plus, some schools like Wyoming are having extra precautions like a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine.

This is a step in the right direction for college football and fall sports to begin this fall. There is no determination on fans, which seems unlikely but getting back to school is positive news if we are to see college football on time.
These workouts will be similar to ones that go on during the summer with no coaches being involved so do not expect coaches out there running practices, plus the groups of athletes will be limited to a small group for the time being.
There are things that will allow these athletes and others to remain on campus to train will be constant testing, keeping facilities clean, and following guidelines like social-distancing to remain healthy.
However, one person getting sick like we saw in the NBA with Rudy Gobert could shut an entire athletic program down for a few weeks.
To be able to start the season on time there needs to be no hiccups but odds are that something will come up and if the season is to start on time it will determine how those hiccups are handled.
This is a nice first step to get college sports back but that is what it is: a first step. There will be more that needs to be done to ensure that fall sports can come back. Right now, there are small groups, next would be larger groups, and at some point, there must be physical contact to play sports.
