NBC to eliminate fullscreen commercials at select NASCAR races in 2024

NBC Sports announces that it will eliminate fullscreen commercials at select NASCAR races throughout the rest of the 2024 season.

NBC Sports has made a big announcement regarding the future of NASCAR broadcasts. On Wednesday morning, NBC Sports announced it will eliminate fullscreen commercials during green flag racing in the races at Daytona International Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, and Talladega Superspeedway in 2024. Instead, there will be side-by-side commercials.

This is a massive development as NASCAR has been doing fullscreen commercials during races for decades. It remains to be seen how the format will translate onto TV; however, this will allow viewers to watch the superspeedway action in its entirety moving forward. As of now, Daytona, Atlanta, and Talladega are the only races with this format in 2024.

It will be an excellent experiment to see if this is a viable situation moving forward. Perhaps FOX Sports could follow and attempt it for the 2025 Daytona 500, while Prime Video and TNT Sports could test it out as well. Overall, this is an excellent decision by NBC Sports and one that should gain the love of several NASCAR fans.
