NBC Sports ranks Titans’ Ryan Tannehill as top 10 QB for 2020

Ryan Tannehill is ranked ahead of Tom Brady, but behind Matthew Stafford.

Ryan Tannehill completely turned the Tennessee Titans’ 2019 campaign around, righting the ship after the team’s 2-4 start to the season when he took the reins at quarterback from Marcus Mariota.

The Titans seem to be sold on Tannehill’s long-term future with the team, recently signing him to a four-year extension worth $118 million.

Some have been wary of how well Tannehill will continue to perform, given his previous inconsistency with the Miami Dolphins.

But others are sold on his ability to keep things rolling in Nashville — and so much so that Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports listed Tannehill as the league’s ninth-best signal-caller ahead of the season.

That’s ahead of Tom Brady, but behind Matthew Stafford.

“I never thought we’d see the day where Tannehill ended up as a top-10 quarterback, but he deserves it,” he wrote. “He was so efficient last year, leading the Titans to the playoffs with a 117.5 passer rating. He was rewarded with a four-year, $118 million extension.”

That’s an awfully bold move, putting Tannehill even just one place ahead of a player considered by some to be the best football player of all time.

But Tannehill will quickly get a chance to prove just how right people who share the same sentiments as Zangaro does about him when the Titans get back to football later this year.
