One of the worst-kept secrets in sports broadcasting was made official on Wednesday.
The announce team for 2022 on NBC’s Sunday Night Football team will see Mike Tirico on play-by-play, Cris Collinsworth continuing as the game analyst, and Melissa Stark as the sideline reporter.
Tirico replaces Al Michaels and Stark replaces Michele Tafoya.
Tirico will be entering his 17th consecutive season calling NFL games.
Stark served as sideline reporter for ABC’s “Monday Night Football” for three seasons (2000-02). Her addition was a bit of a surprise as many felt Kathryn Tappen, who filled in for Tafoya last season, would get the nod.
