Through three of the first four games during their five-game homestand, the Golden State Warriors have trailed by double-figures. However, each game has resulted in a victory for the Warriors. Things didn’t change on Friday night for the homestand’s finale.
Again, the Warriors fell behind by as much as 17 points to the New Orleans Pelicans in the first half on Friday at Chase Center. However, it wasn’t enough to hold off the comeback Warriors.
Similar to their last two games, the Warriors came out firing in the third quarter. Behind Klay Thompson, the Warriors outscored the Pelicans 30-19 in the third quarter to steal the lead going into the fourth quarter.
Their defense held strong down the stretch as the Warriors were able to hold on against the Pelicans to sweep their homestand and secure a five-game winning streak. With their 108-99 win over the Pelicans, the Warriors matched their season-high for consecutive wins with five straight.
Thompson led the way for the Warriors with 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field with four triples to go along with four assists in 34 minutes.
Jonathan Kuminga added 19 points off the bench on 9-of-13 from the floor with seven boards and four steals in 32 minutes. JaMychal Green recorded 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field with six rebounds and two blocks in 15 minutes off the bench.
At 34-30, the Warriors are sitting at the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference playoff race.
